Scarlet Balanga è un progetto che nasce dall'unione dalla passione e delle esperienze musicali di Rossella Piccolo (voce e chitarra classica) e Giovanni Caruso (chitarre), i quali, prima di approdare alla formazione attuale, hanno operato un lungo lavoro di ricerca di altri componenti per dare al progetto stesso la forma che finalmente rispondesse alla propria visione. La svolta si concretizza allorquando Daniele Buttaro (piano e tastiere) si unisce a loro, riversando nel progetto le proprie esperienze, anche come arrangiatore. Alla vena compositiva di Rossella Piccolo, sicuramente non riducibile a schemi predefiniti, si coniugano quindi i contributi di Giovanni e Daniele, ed insieme i tre mettono a fuoco e lavorano per tirare fuori tutte le molteplici influenze che costituiscono il corpo dei rispettivi background, scoprendo come naturalmente possano fondersi istanze di diversa derivazione - dalla musica popolare ai ritmi latini e mediterranei, dal jazz al funky al rock alla musica etnica - semplicemente lasciando andare i propri istinti e dimenticando ogni divisione precostituita di generi e forme. Il risultato è una musica aperta, di ampi orizzonti, un piacevole ed interessante cocktail di sonorità ed accenti di varia natura che si fondono a creare una identità musicale che, pur nel riconoscimento delle matrici originarie, appare di fatto nuova ed originale. La band ha dato alle stampe il proprio primo cd-album, disponibile da Luglio 2008,nel quale sono inclusi 13 brani del proprio repertorio inedito (comprese un'introduzione ed una conclusione), una esauriente panoramica di quanto fin qui detto, in cui ogni brano riserva attraenti sorprese... Attualmente gli Scarlet Balanga stanno lavorando alla preparazione del secondo cd.
The Scarlet Balanga project starts from the passion and the experiences of Rossella Piccolo (voice and classicla guitar) and Giovanni Caruso (guitars), who gathered their contributions to explore their musical backgrounds, of various origin, to find their own way through the music world; Daniele Buttaro (piano and keyboards) followed them widening the horizon of the project, also thanks to his experience in arranging songs. The main feature of the project is an open view to the various influences of the band, with no close-ups about any particular musical form, so that the result is free from a steady classification, leaving each time the ground free for all sorts of fusion of different instincts, such as latin and mediterranean rhythms, popular and ethnic music, jazz, bluesy moods, funky to rock grooves, all mixed in a natural way that leaves each single the original item recognizable still indeed creating a new resulting sound. The creative wave of Rossella walks together with Giovanni and Daniele sensivity, and all melts with surprising ease: a new combination of accents and sounds... With the collaboration of the rhythm section the band has completed the recording session of its first release, available since July 2008, 11 songs and two short items (prelude and conclusion) as the first step on an attractive and amazing road... listen to the previews here and enjoy!
